US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) caught fire - fire extinguished in 10 minutes
On 28 June 2023, the US Navy's Nimitz-class aircraft carrier caught fire. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished.

Defense News wrote about a fire on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). It was later learned that the fire occurred on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). Both aircraft carriers are of the Nimitz class.
According to the US Navy, the fire was caused by electrical equipment that was energised. The aircraft carrier crew was able to extinguish the fire in the forward compartment of the emergency diesel generator. It only took them 10 minutes to do so.
Zach Harrell, a US Navy spokesman, said all non-essential personnel had been evacuated. No one was injured as a result of the incident. Service specialists are currently conducting an assessment to determine the extent of damage to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).
