Brazil refused to supply Ukraine with 450 Guarani 6×6 armored vehicles in medical version

At the beginning of May, we wrote that Ukraine had submitted a request to Brazil to buy 450 Guarani 6×6 armoured personnel carriers. Unfortunately, information has now emerged that there will be no contract.

Here's What We Know

According to the Brazilian newspaper Info Defensa, the department of strategic affairs, defence and arms of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry denied the Ukrainian government. Even though Ukraine has guaranteed that the vehicles will not be involved in combat operations.

According to the official request, the APCs were planned to be used solely to evacuate the wounded and civilians from the combat zone. According to Info Defensa, Brazil's decision undermined the trust of European partners and also led to the loss of a large contract to Iveco Defence Vehicles, which manufactures the Guarani 6×6.

Flashback

Guarani is a family of 20-ton armored vehicles with 6×6 wheel configuration. The vehicle was developed by Iveco Defense Vehicles in 2009 specifically for the Brazilian army. The vehicle has a modular design and different modifications, but only the combat model is produced.
