Russian propaganda released the first video of a JDAM analogue launch by a Su-34 fighter, showing an FAB-500 M62 bomb with a planning and correction module
Russian propagandists have published the first video of the use of M62 FAB-500 corrected aerial bombs. The ordnance was launched by a Su-34 fighter jet.
Here's What We Know
The FAB-500 M62 is equipped with a planning and correction module, which is analogous to the US Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kit. After launch, the module unfolds its wings, which improves the accuracy and range of the aerial bomb.
The video is not particularly informative. We cannot identify the engine type and how the targeting is carried out. Perhaps more information on the Russian development will emerge in the future.
Earlier, the remnants of the planning and correction module found after an FAB-500 M62 hit the target were posted on social media. The first use of bombs with such a module was recorded earlier this year.
