Sol has introduced a rather unusual book-reading gadget. What makes the Sol Reader special is that it is made in the form of glasses or an AR/VR headset.

Details

The Sol Reader is an alternative to tablets and readers that are used to read e-books. These glasses have two E Ink displays instead of glasses. So, when the user puts them on, he sees the text in front of him. At the same time, he can see with his side vision what is going on around him - the device is not completely closed.

Sol Reader has its own memory. To display books, the device connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and uses a special app. A big plus is that the user will be able to adjust the optics. So, if he has vision problems, additional glasses or lenses are not needed.

The gadget also has customizable LED backlighting and a wireless remote included for flipping and scrolling through pages. The glasses work wirelessly: the built-in rechargeable battery provides 25 hours of wireless use, and it only takes 2 hours to fully charge.

Sol Reader glasses are available with frames in black, silver, gold or blue for $350. Deliveries are expected in the fall, but the manufacturer is already taking pre-orders.
