Apple is working on a laptop with a folding screen
To date, Apple remains one of the few manufacturers that still doesn't have its own foldable smartphone. Despite this, the company is rumoured to be working on a laptop with a flexible display.
Here's What We Know
According to a report from Korea, Apple is in talks with suppliers to release a MacBook with a foldable screen. If it does come to fruition, it will be a catalyst for a sluggish display market. Samsung Display and LG Display have recently invested heavily in OLED panels for laptops, and are coordinating plans to develop and produce foldable OLED panels.
The large flexible displays for laptops, while difficult to produce, are more profitable than panels for smartphones.
The report notes that Apple will officially unveil its foldable laptop in 2025, with sales starting in 2026.
The market for foldable laptops is still small. Perhaps its leader is Asus with its Zenbook Fold lineup.
