The situation around Microsoft, ActivisionBlizzard, and Sony is beginning to reach its logical conclusion. Now we know whether Call of Duty will be available on PlayStation consoles in the future and, most importantly, for how long.

Here's What We Know

Initially, Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox Game Studios, announced on Twitter that Microsoft and Sony had signed an agreement that obliges the former to continue releasing Call of Duty games on PlayStation after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Later, Axios journalist Stephen Totilo confirmed this information and revealed a few more details. Sony has confirmed that the Call of Duty deal with Microsoft is for 10 years. This means that Sony fans can rest easy and play Call of Duty on PlayStation until 2033, and we will see what happens next.

Flashback

In January, Microsoft announced the acquisition of ActivisionBlizzard, the creators of Call of Duty, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and other franchises. The deal is worth $68.7 billion, which is significantly more than the $7.5 billion that Microsoft spent on the acquisition of Bethesda back in 2020. The deal is the largest in the history of gaming. The deal is expected to be closed in the summer of 2023.
