EW has talked to the developers of the long-awaited Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game, where they discussed the casting of Venom, his role in the game, and showed an exclusive photo of the character.

Here's What We Know

Bryan Intihar, Senior Creative Director at Insomniac Games, said that the casting of Venom was scarier than the character itself. For him, it was one of the things he avoided for as long as possible because he was very afraid of who would be voicing the character.

Venom in the game is voiced by Tony Todd, who is known for his role in the film Candyman. Intikhar heard Todd's deep voice in the film's trailer, but it so happened that Tony sent a recording of his voice to audition for the role of Venom in the game.

Brian also said that for him, Venom is about power, a sense of fear and a feeling of being all-consuming, and Tony fully embodies this in his performance.

And senior director Jon Paquette mentioned Peter Parker, who in the sequel will be infected with a symbiote that will later become Venom. This decision is explained by the fact that one of the great things about Spider-Man as a character is that he always has to make sacrifices, and the symbiote provides "a lot of grist for the mill". John also added that the symbiote affects not only Peter. His loved ones and the family surrounding the carrier have to see what happens to the person they love. And there's a lot of drama to be had from that.

And at the same time, EW showed an exclusive photo of Venom, who will appear in the game:
