The German government has announced a new military aid package for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It finally includes Leopard 1A5 tanks.
Here's What We Know
Germany and other countries have transferred several dozen Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, but deliveries of Leopard 1 have only started now. At least, if we go by official statements. The new military aid package included 10 Leopard 1A5 units, which were refurbished at the Rheinmetall factory.
German authorities handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine another 20 MG 3 machine guns for Leopard 2 tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles and Dachs engineering vehicles. The list also includes artillery ammunition (1,305 pieces) and smoke shells (2,064 pieces).
Germany also delivered 10 mobile ground radar stations, 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks, four border guard vehicles, one bridge system, a dozen trailers and 80,000 first aid kits.
