Android 14 will bring support for SMS via satellite, but not for everyone

The latest iPhone models and flagship Huawei smartphones support satellite communication, but so far this feature is quite rare among gadgets. However, with the release of Android 14, the situation may change.

Here's What We Know

According to the Pixel #TeamPixel Twitter account, along with Android, Pixel smartphones will get the ability to send messages via satellite communication.

However, keep in mind that this is not an official Google account, so the information is unconfirmed. Nevertheless, the publication Wccftech confirms the data and adds that Samsung smartphones will also get the same feature.

It can be assumed that support for satellite communication will only be on top-end devices with the necessary hardware.

Android 14 should officially debut in October, along with the Pixel 8. More details about the new features are likely to emerge closer to that date.
