The iPhone 14 saved its owner's life. The man was driving his car late at night and collapsed into a chasm from a height of more than 120 metres.

Here's What We Know

According to CBS Los Angeles, the incident took place on Mount Wilson Road. After the impact, the Crash Detection feature in the iPhone 14 registered the event as a traffic accident. In such situations, the smartphone asks the user to confirm that they are okay. If there is no response within 20 seconds, the device will contact emergency services.

In this case, there was no cellular service, so iPhone 14 contacted emergency services using Emergency SOS and satellite communications. The smartphone sent a text message to the Apple centre with the user's coordinates, and the company's specialists called the emergency services.

Search and rescue teams arrived at the accident scene and heard cries for help. Using a helicopter, they lowered two rescuers to the car, where they saw that the driver had injured his head. The delay could have cost the man his life.
