Star Wars Outlaws was not inspired by the cancelled Boba Fett game Star Wars 1313 or other LucasArts projects, developers say
Despite a series of unsuccessful launches, the future of Ubisoft looks a little better with Star Wars Outlaws, which is being developed by Ubisoft Motive, also known for The Division. Many fans of the "galaxy far, far away" universe may think that the project was inspired by the cancelled Star Wars 1313, but this is not the case.
Here's What We Know
This was reported by the developers of Star Wars Outlaws in an interview with IGN. Creative director Julian Gerighty said:
"No, 100 percent. We don’t have access to any other space. And to be honest, the pleasure as creators is also to try and find our way and our niche and think of things with the experience and the scale that Massive and the Palm Studios can bring to it."
The main character of Outlaws, Kay, is not a Jedi or a Sith. The developers did not want the main story to be connected to the Empire or the Rebellion, as their initial and main goal was to tell the story of a rogue, to focus on the character and his motivation.
Thus, the Outlaws developers confirmed that they were not inspired by previous LucasArts projects but created the game from scratch.
When We Can Expect It
Star Wars Outlaws will be released in 2024 for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC.
