The other day Ukraine officially presented the MAGURA V5 maritime drone at the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2023). And now a video with a demonstration of the novelty has appeared on the Internet.
Here's What We Know
The story about the drone was shot by the American edition of CNN. Reporters visited a secret base where drones are tested, and also talked to the developers and one of the operators of the device with the call sign "Shark".
MAGURA V5 is a multi-purpose surface unmanned aerial vehicle. It can conduct reconnaissance, surveillance and search and rescue operations at sea, as well as be a kamikaze drone. In the latter case, the MAGURA V5 carries up to 320kg of explosives. The device has a maximum range of up to 800 kilometres and a maximum speed of more than 75 km/h.
According to the operator with the call sign "Shark", the drone is very easy to control. By the way, it was with the help of MAGURA V5 that the AFU hit three Russian ships in October 2022, including the new flagship Admiral Makarov, which replaced the cruiser Moskva. The MAGURA V5 is entirely developed and manufactured in Ukraine.
