The Spanish Air Force is returning military aircraft to Estonia. They will carry out missions to patrol the airspace over the Baltic States.

Here's What We Know

NATO will use the Spanish Air Force's fourth-generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets as air police. They will start flying from 1 August 2023. An innovation of the mission will be the use of Airbus A400M aerial refuelling aircraft.

The Spanish Air Force will send eight fighters and one air tanker to Estonia. The A400M has already been used in Afghanistan and Sudan, but this will be the first ever NATO mission outside of Spain.

The Eurofighter Typhoon deployment will last for four months and will end on 30 November. The A400M will be in Estonia for just over a month, from 12 August to 15 September.
