Finland is upgrading M270 multiple rocket launchers to A2 level to use GMLRS ER ammunition and PrSm missiles with a range of up to 500 km
The US State Department has approved the sale of equipment to modernise Finnish M270 MLRS multiple rocket launchers. They will be upgraded to A2 level.

After the upgrade, Finland will receive M270A2 multiple rocket launchers capable of using GMLRS ER high-precision projectiles and Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) operational missiles with a maximum launch range of 150 km and 500 km respectively.
The M270A2 multiple rocket launchers are equipped with a new fire control system. It is called the Common Fire Control System (CFCS) and is used in the M142 HIMARS. The US State Department has approved the sale of $395 million worth of modernisation equipment to Finland.
The M270A2 has a new powerplant and transmission. The combat vehicle also has an improved armoured cockpit to provide enhanced protection for the crew against small arms and mines.
