After the lack of anonymity of Snapdragon 845 chip , Qualcomm Company held the second event, at which it finally presented a new top-end mobile system.

30% better

The Snapdragon 845 processor is 30% more energy efficient than the previous generation. The single-chip system received Kryo 385 cores (four high-performance cores operate at a frequency of up to 2.8 GHz and four energy-efficient cores provide a frequency of up to 1.8 GHz), but the core architecture remained the same as the Snapdragon 835 chip. The graphics core was Adreno 630, which taught the support of shooting 4K HDR-video (UHD Premium) at a frequency of 60 fps. According to the representatives of the company, this schedule has become more powerful than the previous generation by 30% and by the same energy efficiency. In addition, the graphics chip is equipped with an image processing processor Spectra 280. With it, you can record HD-video at 480 k / s, and when watching a video, it consumes 30% less energy. The Spectra 280 also helps cameras capture more colors and extend the color gamut of modules to the Rec.2020 standard. A special software will remove unnecessary noise during the creation of a photo or video. All these innovations will allow you to easily overcome smartphones with Snapdragon 845 on board 100 ball test DxOMark platform.

AR / VR support

The Snapdragon 845 chip did not receive a dedicated unit for AI (like Apple A11 Bionic), but it can use smartphones as a full-fledged virtual headset. Devices will be able to monitor the position of the user in space in real time and display this in the virtual space. In addition, the new single-chip Qualcomm system has been supported by the eye tracking function.

Security and a new modem

Mobile processor Snapdragon 845 is also equipped with a hardware unit Secure Processing Unit. It protects user data and is responsible for accessing the owner's biometric data. The new platform was received by LTE-modem Snapdragon X20, with a maximum data transfer rate up to 1.2 Gbit / s.

When to expect

The first smartphones with SoC Snapdragon 845 will be released in early 2018. Perhaps the first flagships will be shown already on CES 2018, but the first on sale will be Samsung Galaxy S9.
