Browser Brave learned how to play videos from YouTube in the background
The mobile version of the browser Brave for Android has learned to play videos from YouTube in the background. In the official customer service this feature is available only to subscribers of YouTube Red , and applications for circumventing restrictions (like NewPipe and iYTBP) are not represented on Google Play, and therefore known only in narrow circles.
What kind of browser?
Browser Brave is known not only thanks to the built-in ad blocker - the founder of the project is the creator of the JavaScript language and the former head of Mozilla, Brendan Ike. Now the team is also working on a new advertising platform based on blockbuster technology. The idea is that users see only unobtrusive ads and even get a reward for it in the form of BAT tokens (crypto currency, created on the basis of Etherium).
As for the background work of YouTube, you can activate it in the Brave settings: select "Site settings" -> "Camera and microphone" -> "Video in the background". By default, the function is inactive. It is not known whether a similar update is planned for the iOS application.
And if not in Brave?
In fact, Firefox, Google Chrome and other browsers based on Chromium also support background video playback from YouTube, but for this you need to switch to the desktop version every time. In addition, Google may at any time close this loophole.
Limitations of the background work of YouTube are caused by the fact that the service is increasingly using video hosting as a free music player, while the search giant is trying to promote a paid subscription to Google Play Music (next year the service is expected to restart under the YouTube brand ).
