In January, Alibaba will launch the sale of cars through vending machines (video)
Back in the summer, Chinese Alibaba announced plans to build a network of vending machines that will simplify the process of selection and purchase as much as possible. Now the company shared the details of the project.
How it works?
It all starts with a mobile Taobao site application (owned by Alibaba, like AliExpress). To order, just take a picture of the car you liked on your smartphone so that the system recognizes the model. When the buyer determines the choice, it remains to specify the color and suitable dates for a three-day test drive. The service will also ask you to do selfie - the face photograph is used to authorize the customer when receiving the machine in the vending machine.
To book a car for a test drive can be no more than five times in two months (provided that it will be different models). For the time being, the service is available only to participants of the Alibaba Super Member system with a good credit rating in Zhima Credit. After three days, the client will be offered to place an order for Taobao.
Judging by the promorick, later the service will be opened for ordinary users, but for a trial trip you will first have to make a deposit.
Where and when?
Two automata will appear in Nanjing and Shanghai in January. According to representatives of Alibaba, by the end of 2018 in China dozens of such points will work.
The very idea of giant vending machines with cars is not new. This format is already tested in Singapore, Germany and the US, however, Alibaba has the most ambitious project.
