Sales of Nokia smartphones will reach 10 million in 2017
Well-known analyst and former top manager of Nokia Tomi Ahonen summed up the first year of HMD Global, the "new home" for mobile devices of the Finnish brand.
Good start
Based on HMD's polls and statements about successes in India, the expert raised the initial forecast of Nokia smartphone sales for the third quarter from 2.5 to 3.4 million units. At the end of the year the manufacturer can realize 5.7 million devices, although in the first estimates of Tomi Ahonen it was said about 3.5 million. The increase in growth rates in the fourth quarter is explained not only by support from mobile operators in key markets. Just the launch of the budgetary Nokia 2 added to the total figure of 1.5 million. The model has all chances to become the first smartphone HMD, which is sold at a speed of 1 million copies per month.
Taking into account 1.5 million units shipped in the first half of the year, in 2017 the company sells more than 10 million smartphones. Director of products in HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, in turn, noted that, depending on the country, the device "new Nokia" sold only 6-8 months, not all year.
What's next?
As expected, in early 2018, HMD will introduce a flagship smartphone with a dual camera Nokia 9 . In addition, the Chinese certification center already has a page for the successor to Nokia 6 with a screen of 18: 9.
