Xiaomi joined the consortium of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which is known for its wireless charging standard Qi, in the fall. Support for this technology is attributed to the upcoming flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 7, and the Chinese ODM manufacturer Longcheer reported details.

What did they tell?

The testing of wireless charging modules for Mi 7 began at the end of last year, and the mass production of the component is planned to begin before the Chinese New Year (mid-February). Official account of Longcheer in WeChat confirmed that Xiaomi works with the supplier of Apple - American Integrated Device Technology (IDT), which specializes in wireless charging technologies and is the leader of this market. As expected, the official announcement of Xiaomi Mi 7 will be held in March-April 2018, and together with the standard model, a big Mi 7 Plus can come out. We already wrote about the expected characteristics of the novelties.

Xiaomi owns 20% of Longcheer's assets, and the companies have been cooperating for more than a year. At one time ODM-partner produced third-generation Redmi smartphones, and now it is assigned to manufacture smart home devices.
