Google will start requiring political advertisers to disclose information in a "prominently disclose" if artificial intelligence is used in their ads.

Here's What We Know

Starting in November, Google will require advertisers to disclose that "synthetic content" " is used in election ads that depict "realistic-looking people or events".

This includes political ads that use artificial intelligence to make it appear that a person is saying or doing something they have never done. It also applies to altered footage of a real event.

The labels should include words such as "This audio was computer generated" " or "This image does not depict real events". Any "inconsequential" changes, such as brightening photos, editing backgrounds or removing red-eye using artificial intelligence, will not require labelling.
