Notebook Dell XPS 13 (2018) became more powerful and got a new color
A few days before the official opening of the CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Dell introduced the updated XPS 13 (9370) laptop. The company slightly refreshed the design of the flagship model, and in addition to the gray version, a version with a light interior finish and an aluminum cap of the color "pink gold" will be on sale.
Stylish little thing
Dell XPS 13 (2018) is equipped with a 13.3-inch display with narrow frames that are still 23% thinner. Options with touch input support are available, and a panel with Full HD or 4K resolution is also available. The webcam has moved to the center and received an infrared sensor to support secure logon with Windows Hello (the fingerprint scanner is also there, it's built into the power button). It would be better if it was placed above the screen, but the company decided that the spectacular appearance is more important. The area around the white keyboard is made of fiberglass with the texture of the woven fabric. Thanks to a special protective coating, it will not get dirty or change color over time. In the gray version, carbon fiber is used.
What is inside?
Performance is met by quad-core Intel Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U of the eighth generation, due to which the processing of video in Adobe Premiere Pro will take half the time. To remove heat from the chips, an effective cooling system with two fans was developed, in addition, the manufacturer took care that the keyboard (with illumination) did not heat up at maximum load. The amount of RAM is from 4 to 16 gigabytes, and the SSD-drive is from 128 gigabytes and up to 1 terabyte.
The body has USB 3.1 Type-C and two Thunderbolt 3 / USB Type-C connectors, all three can be used to charge the laptop. Full-sized USB-ports are not present, so it is necessary to be purchased by adapters. There is no SD card slot, only microSD cards are supported. With a shell thickness of only 11.6 mm, the novelty weighs 1.21 kg. Dell promises up to 19 hours of work on one charge and up to 11 hours in versions with a higher display resolution, but the actual performance may vary greatly depending on the scenario.
How much is?
In the US, sales of Dell XPS 13 (9370) start this month, the starting price is $ 1000 or $ 950, if you choose a version for developers with Ubuntu on board instead of Windows 10. The competition will be made by flagship Lenovo notebooks, the announcement of which will be held in the near future, and updated ultrabook Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 (from $ 1700 for the version with Core i7 of the eighth generation and 16 GB of RAM). It is noteworthy that the previous generation XPS 13 does not go anywhere and will be sold in parallel with new products.
