Vivo introduced the technology built into the display of the fingerprint scanner

At the CES 2018 exhibition in Las Vegas, the Chinese company Vivo introduced the current technology of a fingerprint sensor built into the glass screen.

According to company representatives, the fingerprint scanner is located between the screen and the glass (the technology works only with OLED panels). After the user touches the sensor, it will light up and recognize it within 0.6-0.7 seconds (slowly compared to a conventional scanner). The accuracy of the technology is 1 error per 50,000 recognitions and this is a reliable indicator.

Representatives of Vivo did not disclose the characteristics of the technology, nor its name, nor other details. But they said that the system uses the Synaptics sensor and they wait for orders from competitors and are ready to mass produce the shown technology.

When to expect

The first smartphone with a built-in display scanner fingerprint technology Vivo will be released in the first quarter of this year. Along with this, AliPay, WeChat and others are going to connect to the new scanner.
