Created the world's first 512MB microSD memory card
British Integral Memory has set a new capacity record for microSD memory cards - next month the company will bring to market a 512 GB model. It can be used in smartphones, tablets, drones and other devices that support the format microSDXC.
The previous record in 400 GB belonged to the card SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I, issued in August 2017. The version of Integral Memory exceeds it in volume, but not in speed - 80 MB / s vs. 100 MB / s from the competitor. A nipple-sized drive conforms to the UHS-1 Class 1 specification and the Video Speed Class 10 (V10) standard, which means users can record 4K-videos directly to the card.
How much is?
The manufacturer modestly keeps silent about this. Given the price tag for the 400-gigabyte SanDisk memory card - $ 250, it will not be cheap. Integral Memory plans to begin selling new items in February 2018. SD-cards are also available in volume up to 512 GB, although SanDisk in 2016 showed a prototype of a terabyte drive of this format.
Manufacturers still have much to strive for - modern devices (theoretically) can work with memory cards up to 2 TB in size.
