Tesla brought its first electric truck onto public roads. The black prototype of Tesla Semi was filmed on video when he was driving along the street of the Californian town of Sunnyvale, some 15 kilometers from the company's headquarters in Palo Alto.

Sounds like the future

Unlike the wagon variants shown during the presentation in November, the test version has rear-view mirrors. In fact, they are not needed here - cameras are installed in Tesla Semi, the image of which is displayed on the side displays in the cabin. Just the current legislation does not allow traveling around the roads without mirrors, and the company decided not to anger the local authorities.

The electric engines of the truck (and there are four of them right away) work quite quietly. As noted by users in the comments on the video on YouTube, this is how the future sounds.

When to expect?

Production of Tesla Semi will begin only in 2019. The estimated price of the modification with a reserve of 480 kilometers is $ 150,000, and the $ 180,000 version is capable of driving more than 800 kilometers on one charge. Pre-order is already open.
