ReefShark: high-performance chip for 5G networks from Nokia
Nokia is known not only for its mobile unit, but also as a company that produces special network equipment. And today she introduced a special chip ReefShark, which will help mobile operators update the network to 5G.
Characteristics
The chip capacity is up to 84 Gbit / s, which is 3 times more than any other model (up to 28 Gb / s). Thanks to ReefShark it will be possible to reduce the size of MIMO antennas in half. Also, the power consumption of the processor decreased by 64%, in comparison with the previous chips.
The new chipset contains a special digital interface for LTE and 5G, a ReefShark RFIC interface module and a baseband processor.
Supplies
According to Nokia, the company already works with 30 operators and will begin deliveries of its new processor in the third quarter of this year.
