The iPhone 15 can charge other smartphones, watches and headphones: how it works
With the introduction of the USB-C port , the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones now have another option to charge other gadgets.
Details
Blogger Marques Brownlee published a video review of Apple's new products and found out how the new feature works. So, the USB-C port allows you to charge smartphones, smartwatches, wireless headphones and other devices.
If you connect to iPhone 15 iPhone with Lightning - it will start automatically charging the older model. Either way, power is supplied to the iPhone with Lightning port, even if iPhone 15 is low on battery. If you use any two models in the iPhone 15 lineup, the one with the smaller battery will charge.
If, on the contrary, an Android smartphone with USB-C and Power Delivery support is connected to a depleted iPhone 15, the latter will act as a paverbank. If there is no Power Delivery support, the result is unpredictable: you can't predict which phone will be the charger and which will be charged.
But keep in mind that the iPhone 15 won't be a full-fledged external battery, as the charging speed is only 4.5W. That's enough for smaller devices like Apple Watch headphones, but not for smartphones.
