NVIDIA has teamed up with the Continental AG car kit manufacturer to create a platform for self-managing cars.

What is known

Continental has partnered with NVIDIA to create a single DRIVE platform. It will help other automakers create their own self-managed cars. NVIDIA will provide Xavier chips, which will be the heart of the platform. Continental will give their own experience - safety certificates, radars and cameras.

Companies want to create a platform that will provide the fifth level of autonomy (self-managed car) to customers with a second level (cruise control, as in Tesla Autopilot).

It's not the first time for NVIDIA

NVIDIA has already concluded similar deals with other automakers. At the end of 2017 the company terminated the agreement with Tesla, opening for more profitable offers. In the same year, the company announced that it had entered into contracts with Audi, Toyota, Volvo and Volkswagen to develop similar projects.
