Samsung yesterday began to send an update to Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy S8 and S8 + . And today the resource SamMobile said that, unfortunately, both smartphones with the update did not receive support for Project Treble.

What does it mean

Project Treble is an initiative of Google, thanks to which manufacturers can quickly update their devices to the current version of the Android operating system. The system is already built into smartphones that originally run on Android Oreo. But Google also allowed manufacturers, if desired, to add support for Treble and to devices that update from Android 7.1 Nougat to Oreo.

The absence of Project Treble in Galaxy S8 and S8 + means that both smartphones will receive new firmware as before with delays. Perhaps something will change after the upgrade to Android P.

In the dry residue

It is a pity that while companies are not trying to add the Project Treble system to their smartphones, and that could forever save users from the long expectations of new updates.
