Yandex has tested an unmanned taxi

On YouTube channel Yandex released a video with an unmanned taxi, rolling around Moscow.

How was the test

The trip took place near the main office of Yandex, in the Khamovniki area, immediately after the February snowfall. The roads have already been cleaned, but there is quite a lot of snow left on the roadside. In the driver's seat was a test pilot, in case something goes wrong. However, the race was successful, completely in automatic mode.

According to Yandex, such tests are important to conduct at different times of the year, because drones should work well both in summer and in winter, on a slippery and snowy road. In addition, because of the large amount of snow, it will be more difficult for a car to recognize the signs, markings and edges of the road.
In the spring of 2017, Yandex successfully tested the prototype of an unmanned taxi created on the basis of the Toyota Prius together with the NAMI Institute.
