Sometimes even NASA underestimates their capabilities. So, for example, happened with their rover Opportunity, who stayed on the red planet more than the planned time.
What is known
Today, Opportunity is in complete loneliness celebrating 5 thousand Martian days of stay on the red planet. It is noteworthy that NASA did not expect such a result. The company predicted that after 90 days Opportunity would fail because of the influence of the Martian winter.
A bit of history
Opportunity launched in July 2003 on a Delta-2 rocket with a couple of his "brother" Spirit. In January 2004, a couple landed on Mars and went to explore the opposite parts of the planet.
