The Google algorithm has learned to determine the cardiac ailments of the retina
AT Google X Labs a new curious company was born - Verily. AND as they wrote The Verge, these guys have learned to determine cardiovascular diseases, just by retina of the eye.
How it works
The retina of the eye is filled with blood vessels, which reflect the general condition of the body. Therefore, researchers Verily drove through the program data of about 300 thousand patients, with using which the algorithm has learned to see patterns and from high accuracy in determining patient's age, blood pressure, and even smokes the patient. A these data in turn allow high accuracy, for example, predict the likelihood of a heart attack.
Why it's cool
Studies Verily say that their algorithm diagnoses diseases with the same success as advanced diagnostic equipment in cardiological centers. 70% of the algorithm versus 72% for method of SCORE, in which is based on a variety of blood tests. A this means that to control the work of the heart in future will be enough for an ordinary smartphone with camera.
