Cobalt is a metal used by companies involved in the creation of electronics. Smartphones, tablets, smart watches and even cars use lithium-ion batteries. Cobalt is a key component of the batteries, but, like all natural minerals, it can end. Apple looked in tomorrow and decided to protect itself.

What is known

Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to enter into a contract with cobalt mining companies. The company is looking for a supplier that will provide it with cobalt for five years. It is noteworthy that Apple is not the smartest: BMW, Volkswagen and Samsung are also solving this issue.

Cobalt Fever

If this goes on, we should expect an increase in prices for lithium-ion batteries. Producers themselves will increase the demand for components, and suppliers will not miss the opportunity to earn extra money. Wikipedia reports that the largest mines are in the People's Republic of China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Australia.
