Hackers broke the Tesla cloud on the Amazon Web Service to drop the crypto currency
The company RedLock, which deals with cybersecurity and studies threats in sphere of cloud data storage, declares hacking of the Tesla account on cloud platform Amazon Web Service.
What happened
Hackers hacked account thanks to Kubernetes from Google (open source software for automating the deployment, scaling and application management). Tesla account on Kubernetes is not was password protected and stored all necessary for access to the Amazon Web Service information.
As it turned out, the hackers were not needed Tesla data, and power for the crypto currency. Although, as assured in RedLock, y they had access even to critical company data, such as vehicle telemetry and patents.
Their cybercriminals hid their IP addresses with using Cloudflare, and cloud specifically not used on full force so that attract to self attention. AND their tactics worked: in RedLock found out about accidentally, when they investigated the fact of data leakage for access to AWS.
What now
Now all the gaps "patched", and at Tesla reported: the personal data of customers are not affected, breaches of confidentiality and protection of cars is not revealed.
