Launching MIUI 9, Xiaomi has promised to update more than 40 smartphones right up to the 2012 model year Mi 2, but the older the device, the less likely to get a fresh version of Android. We were even a little surprised when our colleagues from XDA Developers found test firmware based on Android 8 Oreo for the flagships of the year before last - Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi Mix.

Is MIUI 10 on the way?

Initially Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Mix worked on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and in the autumn smart phones received MIUI 9 with Nougat.
