Something missing: Xiaomi sells Xiaomi 13T smartphones without Leica cameras in some countries

Xiaomi in late September unveiled the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro smartphones, which received cameras developed in collaboration with the famous camera maker Leica. But it turns out, the "full kit" is not available for all countries.

Details

Users have noticed that Nigeria and Chile are selling the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro with regular cameras, without the Leica branding and customised camera modes. This is confirmed by images on Xiaomi's official websites in Chile and Nigeria. In some countries, sales have not yet started, so this list may expand after a while.

The collaboration with Leica is not just limited to lenses, there are several software features as well. For example, the Camera app offers two main shooting styles by default - Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic, just like the more expensive Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro and 13 Ultra. There are also a few optimisations related to portrait mode.

Interestingly, the lack of Leica logos and features has not affected the price of the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro in any way. The Xiaomi 13T costs just over €600 (in local currency terms), while the 13T Pro sells for around €800 in both Chile and Nigeria.

The reason for this is not yet known. It might be due to some market restrictions or a clause in Xiaomi and Leica's agreement that prevents the smartphone maker from releasing Leica-branded products in some markets. Hopefully, Xiaomi will clarify this situation.
