Scientists have discovered a new source of water on the Moon

To fall from the Earth, mankind is not enough to take a couple of water and food missiles. It is enough to maintain the water balance of the colonists, but only for the first time. Investigating the nearest transshipment point of mankind to the Moon, the scientists found out that the water is stored at the poles of the satellite in a frozen state.

Recent research refutes this theory. Researchers of the Institute of Space Sciences of Colorado found that the water has spread throughout the moon.

To study the chemical composition of the surface of the moon, scientists use the light of the sun, reflected from the surface of the satellite. The problem is that the moon heats up and emits infrared radiation, which prevents accurate determination. Researchers from Colorado went the other way: combined "thermal reading" and the spectrometer.

It worked

The study of the purified data of the spectrometer showed that water is present throughout the Moon, but do not rush to rejoice. Researchers believe that the elements seen are hydroxyl (OH), and not water molecules (H2O). To use hydroxyl, it must be extracted and processed. This is much more difficult than dabbing a block of ice on the pole.

In any case, this study gave more information about the structure of the moon. So, future colonists will be armed with the necessary tools and knowledge for survival.
