Unexpected: the Galaxy S10 has received an update despite Samsung ending support

Earlier this year, Samsung ended support for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ as these smartphones came out in 2019 and were eligible for 3 major operating system updates and 4 years of security updates. Despite this, the former flagships received an unexpected update the other day.

Here's What We Know

The Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+ models received the update on the Telcel network in Mexico. It includes a security patch for September and firmware version HWI1.

It's not clear yet if this update will roll out to other countries, as support for the smartphones has officially ended. Perhaps Telcel Mexico has simply been generous and provided its customers with an additional update. Or maybe Samsung discovered a serious vulnerability and decided to release a fix.

By the way, another model of the lineup - Galaxy S10 Lite - will continue to receive updates until 2024. And all because this smartphone was released a year after the rest of the Galaxy S10 lineup.
