Leonardo DiCaprio is changing his role in Killers of the Flower Moon on Martin Scorsese's judgement
Martin Scorsese has revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio convinced him to give him the role of the villain rather than the hero in Killers of the Flower Moon.
Here's What We Know
Martin Scorsese often found in Leonardo DiCaprio screen hero, but in the film "Killers of the Flower Moon" actor wanted to try himself in another, directly opposite role.
According to the director, initially for DiCaprio was prepared for the role of chief FBI investigator Tom White - a white man sent to Oklahoma in the 1920s to investigate a series of murders in the Osage tribe.
But when Scorsese decided to change the plot, in hopes of avoiding the "white saviour" image and not building the film around the detective's point of view, DiCaprio was given the role of Ernest Burkhart. Now, DiCaprio will embody a man who marries an Osage woman, played by Lily Gladstone, but eventually becomes involved in a violent plot to kill the Osage tribe for their oil money. And the role of Tom White went to Jesse Plemons.
The script revision was not met with everyone's approval: "The studio said, 'We backed the other version, we can’t back this one." Scorsese said. Apple eventually stepped in to the project, and the changes were well-received. After a theatrical run, Killers of the Flower Moon will be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
When We Can Expect It
You can see DiCaprio in a role unlike his tomorrow - "Killers of the Flower Moon" will be in theatres on October 20.
