SpaceX plans to launch 144 rockets into space in 2024 - a 136% increase in launches over two years
SpaceX intends to send a dozen rockets into space every month in 2024. Compared to last year, the number of launches will increase by 136%.
Here's What We Know
In 2022, the company of Elon Musk made 61 flights into space. A month and a half before the end of this year, SpaceX has conducted 74 launches and does not plan to stop there. Next year, the aerospace company wants to launch 144 rockets, i.e. 12 each month.
SpaceX has not forgotten about its goal of 100 launches by the end of 2023. However, time is running out and the company must significantly increase the frequency of launches to reach it. To make it, SpaceX should launch every 2.8 days. Until now, Falcon rockets have been flying into space with a frequency of every 3.9 days.
The plan to make 144 missions was announced by Bill Gerstenmaier, vice president of SapceX. According to him, this is an achievable goal, as the company can perform several launches per day. For example, in March 2023, SpaceX launched two Falcon 9 rockets less than 5 hours apart.
There will always be work for Falcon 9. US authorities have authorised the company to deploy 12,000 Starlink satellites in orbit and are considering an application to increase the constellation to 30,000 spacecraft. This year, 60 per cent of missions were designed specifically to put Starlink satellites into orbit.
