Pakistan successfully tested an Ababeel medium-range ballistic missile this week. The test was reported by Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations Department.
Here's What We Know
The Pakistani military conducted the test to evaluate the performance of subsystems and structural elements of the missile. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, senior officers of the Strategic Plans Division and the Strategic Forces Command oversaw the launch.
Ababeel is a medium-range ballistic missile known as Ababeel Weapon System. It can deliver a nuclear warhead up to a distance of 2,200 kilometres. The payload consists of three, five or eight warheads weighing 500kg, 300kg or 185kg respectively. The total payload mass is 1,500kg.
