Modern robots have learned to do flips, open doors and even avoid obstacles. A set for the destruction of men was considered complete, if not for European scientists.

What is known

Researchers at three universities published a new study of artificial intelligence. Paul Shidlo, Mirko Rakovich, Lorenzo Jamone and Jose Santos-Victor taught AI to portend, and interpret human movements.

How it works

Scientists have used a recurrent neural network that allows analyzing the chain of events. When the robot correctly read the gesture, it transmitted the received data through neural networks, which were used in further observations. In the absence of information, the robot tried to guess the person's intentions.

Thanks to neural networks, the robot quickly learns and can hone the movements in a short time. The researchers explained that the "skills" of robots can come in handy in areas where rapid cooperation between man and machine is required.

"It can be a joint meeting, which requires an understanding of subtle non-verbal signals about a person's intentions and future actions. In these scenarios, it is not enough just to recognize the current action. Instead, it is extremely important to predict the actions and to foresee the intention to guarantee uninterrupted cooperation, "the scientists explained.
