Google Chrome added password export for easy migration

Google Chrome has a built-in password manager, but some prefer more flexible third-party services. Especially for these users, the browser developers added the ability to export credentials.

How it works?

The first step is to activate the Password export setting on the chrome: // flags experimental page in the desktop version. After restarting the browser, a button with three dots appears on the page of saved passwords above the list of sites. Clicking on it, select "Export" (there are no other options in the menu). You may need to enter the operating system password for confirmation.

The information is saved in a CSV file. Import from this format is supported by all popular password managers (Lastpass, Keeper, 1Password and so on), but since the data is stored in clear form, it is better to delete the file immediately after the transfer.

What else do you need to know?

Password export is available in Google Chrome 64 or newer. The function was also supported in older versions of the browser, but since Chrome 59 it was removed from stable assemblies. Now, the developers decided to put everything back in place.
