Hanwha has shipped another batch of K9A1 Thunder self-propelled howitzers to Poland under a multi-billion dollar contract
South Korean defence company Hanwha has shipped another batch of K9 Thunder howitzers to Poland. The European division has published several photos of the dispatch ceremony, which recently took place in the Republic of Korea.
Here's What We Know
Poland has ordered 672 K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers. The 212 A1 level artillery systems will be built at Hanwha factories in the Republic of Korea. The amount of the agreement was $2.4 billion. This batch consists of 18 howitzers.
Deliveries of the K9A1 will last until 2026. After that, production of K9PL self-propelled artillery units will be established in Poland at the Polish Armaments Group plant. Poland intends to build another 460 howitzers on its territory.
Since 2022, Poland has been actively buying Korean weapons. In addition to howitzers, the European country has ordered K2 Black Panther tanks, FA-50 aircraft and K239 Chunmoo missile systems worth billions of dollars. In addition, the Republic of Korea wants to sell Poland the KS-III submarine in the most modern version.
