New revenge story: insider reveals the first details of Assassin's Creed Codename: Red storyline and gives the name of the game's protagonist
A few days ago, the senior writer of Assassin's Creed franchise Pierre Boudreau posted (either accidentally or intentionally) on his LinkedIn page an image, presumably the main character of the new part of the game with the working title Codename: Red.
Here's What We Know
Pierre Boudreau promptly deleted the image, but it was no longer of any use, as the illustration went viral on all publishers and news sites.
The fact that Boudreau's art shows one of the two protagonists of the long-awaited part of Assassin's Creed in the setting of feudal Japan is evidenced not only by the style of the image, the game's logo and the traditional costume with a deep hood, but also by the information of the authoritative French insider j0nathan, whose speciality is leaks about Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed.
Here's What We Know
j0nathan has confirmed that the artwork features the central character of Assassin's Creed Codename: Red. It's a shinobi girl and at this stage of development her name is Naoé/Naoi. Perhaps this name will be changed for release, as it was with Assassin's Creed Valhalla's protagonist.
According to j0nathan, Naoé's storyline in Codename: Red will be similar to that of Bayek from Assassin's Creed Origins. A member of the Ancient Order will kill the girl's father and in order to avenge his death, she will join a shinobi clan.
When We Can Expect It
Assassin's Creed Codename: Red is expected to release in late 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series.
