The creators of GameMaker Studio 2, a platform that allows you to create games without the knowledge of programming, have announced the support of yet another console.

What is known

Yoyo Games announced that GameMaker Studio 2 will receive support for the latest Nintendo console. Developers will be able to create games on the GameMaker platform and adapt them to the Switch.

"Nintendo has greatly contributed to the emergence of independent releases on the Nintendo Switch, and this partnership means even more beautiful games for the platform," said James Cox, general manager of Yoyo Games.

Than it threatens

Such a partnership is beneficial for both parties: Nintendo and third-party developers. GS2 is easy to learn, but it offers extensive functionality for creating games. On this engine were created Hyper Light Drifter and Crashlands, which deserve the title of good. So, young developers will learn, and Nintendo will replenish an empty eShop.

When to expect

The release of GameMaker Studio 2 for Nintendo Switch is scheduled for the summer of 2018. GS2 already supports Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, Android, iOS, FireTV, Android TV, Microsoft UWP, HTML5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
