The Armed Forces of Ukraine received one more PD-2 unmanned aerial system worth $820,000
The Serhiy Pritula Charitable Foundation has handed over SHARK drones to the Ukrainian Defence Forces. At the same time, the foundation for competent assistance to the army "Turn Live" sent the PD-2 system to the front.
Here's What We Know
The organisation has already handed over the fifth unmanned aircraft system since the beginning of 2023. It includes a vehicle-based mobile control centre, a ground station, spare parts and two reconnaissance-class UAVs. The cost of the complex is approximately $820,000.
Like SHARK, the PD-2 drones can be used in conjunction with the US M142 HIMARS missile system. The drones are capable of conducting reconnaissance at a depth of up to 180 kilometres and correcting artillery fire. For this purpose, they have a conventional camera and a thermal imager with a zoom of 30x and 5x respectively.
As we wrote above, the Army's competent assistance fund has handed over five unmanned aerial systems to the Defence Forces since the beginning of the year. The PD-2 drones are already being used successfully on the frontline. The organisation is preparing to hand over six more systems at the front in the near future. A total of more than $8 million has been spent on the purchase of 11 systems.
