Google will require apps in the Play Store to better moderate AI content and add a button for user complaints
Google will start requiring applications in the Play Store to have a button to complain about offensive content generated by artificial intelligence, as well as compliance with the rules of moderation of such content.
Here's What We Know
From January 2024, apps with AI content will have to add the ability for users to complain about offensive content in order to stay in the app shop. This will affect chatbots, image generators, and apps with AI-generated videos.
Meanwhile, apps that use AI to summarise text and improve performance as a feature will not fall under the new rules.
According to Google, examples of problematic content created by artificial intelligence could include fake sexual content, fraudulent videos of real people, and false or deceptive election content.
The company recognised that generative AI is a rapidly growing category of applications. Therefore, the policy on such programmes will be regularly reviewed, Google notes.
