The Russian nuclear-powered submarine K-114 Tula has launched a third-generation SS-N-23 Skiff ballistic missile with a maximum range of more than 11,000 kilometres

We have already written that the Russians held a training exercise for the strategic deterrent forces, as part of which a Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched. Also during the event, the R-29RMU2 Sineva ballistic missile (SS-N-23 Skiff according to NATO classification) was launched.

Here's What We Know

SS-N-23 Skiff is a three-stage submarine-launched ballistic missile that has a maximum launch range of more than 11,000 kilometres. It has a launch mass of over 40,000kg. In theory, the missile can carry up to ten individually guided warheads with a yield of 100 kilotons each.

The SS-N-23 Skiff is carried by Project Dolphin strategic nuclear-powered missile cruisers. During the deterrence force training, a ballistic missile was launched by the K-114 Tula submarine from the waters of the Barents Sea.

Tu-95MS strategic bombers also took part in the event. The aircraft launched air-launched cruise missiles of an unnamed type.

It should be noted that the current exercise was an exact copy of a training session that took place exactly one year ago. As then, the Russians used the K-114 submarine with the SS-N-23 Skiff missile, Tu-95MS aircraft and launched the Yars intercontinental ballistic missile.
