In Phoenix, you can now hail a Waymo robotaxi through the Uber app

Uber and Waymo have partnered to allow Uber customers to order Waymo's drone cars in Phoenix, Arizona.

Here's What We Know

Passengers who order UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric can get a Waymo autonomous car when travelling within the coverage area. There is an option to opt out of the robotaxi and choose a chauffeur-driven car.

Uber says this will reduce emissions per passenger and make green transport more affordable. The collaboration began after Waymo launched a robotaxi test programme in Southern California.

The company provided residents and visitors with early access tickets so they could try out rides in fully autonomous Waymo One cars before their full launch.
