Following Huawei and Apple: Samsung to add satellite connectivity support to Galaxy S24 flagships
Last year, Apple's iPhone 14 series and Huawei's P60 flagships were the first to get satellite communication support. And now a Samsung spokesperson has confirmed that satellite connectivity will soon be coming to the company's smartphones as well.
Here's What We Know
The CEO of Samsung's System LSI division said that the company will support satellite communications for emergency services starting next year.
We're probably talking about the flagships of the Galaxy S24 lineup, as these are the ones that are expected to debut in early 2024. It's just not clear yet whether this feature will be available on all models or only on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 Ultra.
With two-way satellite communication, users will be able to send and receive messages about their location and emergencies, even when they're in a remote area where the cellular mobile network is unavailable.
